As many of you know, I chose to take a break from my art this summer. Though, I am definitely not giving it up! I plan to continue painting, drawing, and designing but I'm not going to attend any markets this year. This was a very painful decision to make and ultimately there were quite a few factors that led me to it. I have always felt like my art business was focused too much on profits and I'd really like to step back and start making work just because I love to do that. For some time now it has also felt as though God is trying to work in my business but I have been unable to let Him, I'm hoping that this break lets Him grow my business to glorify Him. However, one of the main reasons I decided to take a break was my photography! I've been practicing portrait photography for the past year and am really wanting to get more experience in it. Taking the summer off has given me the chance to make room for practice! Photography has always been something I've dabbled in but I was never quite able to make it take off. However, this past month I decided to offer free photo sessions all summer just to get a response. Mind you, this is not the first time I have done this and I wasn't expecting much. Yet, I ended up with 16 (and counting) people messaging me to book sessions for the summer! I didn't expect this response and I am just so overjoyed that God blessed me with it. I'm taking it as a sign that maybe photography is where He wants me, at least for now.
